Electra, his sister smuggles Orestes away to their father's old friend King Strophius of Phocis at the time of Agamemnon's murder. Strophius raises Orestes with his son Pylades, they become close friends.

According to Aeschylus, it was Apollo who instructed him to kill Aegisthus and Clytemnestra and then asked him to return to him to be purified. On his return, Orestes clashed with the Erinyes who challenged Apollo. 2 dagar sedan · Aegisthus threatens the Chorus with his soldiers, but Clytemnestra stops the moment from escalating into more violence. As Aegisthus and Clytemnestra enter into the palace together, the Chorus holds its ground and prays for Orestes to come to Argos and alleviate the suffering in the House of Atreus. Telemachus then asks Nestor about Agamemnon’s fate. Nestor explains that Agamemnon returned from Troy to find that Aegisthus, a base coward who remained behind while the Greeks fought in Troy, had seduced and married his wife, Clytemnestra. With her approval, Aegisthus murdered Agamemnon.
